I have to be honest, I was affraid not to be able to communicate with the teacher and therefore not be able to enjoy the class, but it all went really good. This program taught me so much. The atmosphere of Florence, the kindness and understanding of the teacher as well as the helpful, organized system that of Studiainitalia staff made it all worth it. I strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to dive into an atmosphere of learning, open-mindedness and sharing. I spent 3 weeks in Florence, and I loved every bit of this experience.

Satisfecho!Solo he podido estar una semana haciendo un curso intensivo en la escuela. La escuela fenomenal, tanto profesores como compañeros. Actividades programadas interesantes, y buen ambiente en general.Con la estancia he tenido suerte, ya que estaba sollo en un piso limpio y bien situado.Recomendable.

Bookbinding in Florence with Studiainitalia is an unforgettable, incredible experience. I didn’t want it to end. I didn’t want to leave. I’m so grateful for *** for this opportunity, for ***’s wonderful guidance and for ***’s expertise. *** is one of the most incredible people I’ve met anywhere in the world. Her studio is a delight to the senses and her talents and artistry are second to none. My friend *** and I were transported into historical Florence through the art of bookbinding. We had the pleasure of working with the finest materials. The bonus was learning to speak Italian along the way. It is a dream come true and I cannot wait to return. Firstly I would like to thank *** and *** for your assistance in enrolling in both the Italian Language course and shoe making course, you were very professional and provided me with support and excellent service. On the first day I attended the Italian language course I was placed with a group of about eight students, but unfortunately for me, all of the other students already spoke some Italian and I was the only absolute beginner. It was clear during the first lesson that this class was not suitable, and I was offered individual, one on one classes instead. Unfortunately for me I was not able to practice my Italian speaking during the day and this meant that I did not retain as much of the information as I would have liked. The shoe making course was absolutely wonderful. I took the 48 hour class, with 3 hours per day for 4 days per week for 4 weeks. I studied in Florence, and my instructor was ***. He was an excellent tutor, he trained for 2 years full time and has been an artisan shoe maker for 15 years. He was very thorough in his tuition, making sure I understood the process correctly and why things were done in a particular way. He made sure I understood the important steps in making a model from the last, and the pattern making process. We made several different patterns over the 4 weeks. Some important things for potential students to be aware of: There are no written materials or manuals provided, you will need to write your own notes. I took extensive photographs of the important steps in the pattern making process. The artisan you work with will probably be running a business and you may be interrupted by customers during your lessons. Having been provided with no information about the budget required for equipment and materials, I would recommend approximately *** euros if you are making a pair of shoes. This includes equipment such as a cutting mat, scalpel, metal ruler, paper, pencils, customised shoe last, leather for the upper and lining, and heels. *** did not own a regular sewing machine to sew the leather, the pieces were sent to a contractor for a price of *** euros. I am not sure of the correct order in which these pieces were sewn and will need to buy a shoe making text book to assist me with this stage when I make another pair of shoes. Shoe making is a very precise and lengthy process – be prepared to spend a minimum of 15 – 20 hours to make one pair of shoes (or more if you are a beginner). I am absolutely thrilled with my new, completely unique, artisan shoes, and I now own a set of lasts to make as many pairs as I wish, with many design options available. I would definitely recommend this course, and if you are able to study for more than 48 hours then you should do so. I studied in Florence, and this city is known for it’s leather products. If you happen to study there I would recommend a visit to the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum which has hundreds of shoes on display by this famous designer, and has free entry on the first Sunday of each month. la experiencia ha sido magnifica , el centro me ha gustado mucho, tanto la forma de dar la clase como las actividades de la tarde, estan muy pendientes del alumno. Creo que hacen muy bien su trabajo. He estado a gusto , tambien, con la familia, la casa estaba muy cerca de la escuela y la señora ha sido correcta, una gran cocinera, me ha puesto una buena variedad de platos italianos, en fin , que si puedo el año que viene repito. ***Estoy muy contenta con el curso de restauración de muebles que he realizado. El restaurador me ha enseñado muchas técnicas y muchos trucos a la hora de restaurar. Indudablemente esto se consigue con experiencia y profesionalidad. La organización del curso también me ha encantado. Todo muy bien organizado. Volveré a Florencia y haré otro curso . Gracias´

Es la segunda vez que elijo una estancia organizada con vosotros y la experiencia siempre es fantástica. Mi viaje a Torino fue espectacular. La escuela está bien, se agradece que haya pocos alumnos en clase y la atención es muy directa y familiar. También organizan salidas guiadas y actividades desde la escuela, una maravillosa oportunidad para practicar el idioma con los otros alumnos y conocer la ciudad.El alojamiento céntrico, bien comunicado, tranquilo y bonito. Tenía unos 10-15 minutos a pie hasta la escuela. Agradecer, también por aquí, todas las gestiones, facilidades y apoyo telefónico tanto de ***.Toda una experiencia para viajar aprendiendo idiomas y conociendo la vida en Italia. Totalmente recomendable. Repetiré. Torino, ademas, es una ciudad sorprendente

I took the bookbinding course for two weeks, very recently. Thanks to the teacher *** and studiainitalia members *** and ***, the whole experience was greater than I expected. *** is not only very experienced professional on her field, she is also a very good teacher. And a lovely person as well. It doesn’t matter if you are just a starter at this field or someone who is already in it but would like to learn some other techniques on bookbinding, this is a good place to go.

I attended the short bookbinding course this september. It was just amazing! Two weeks of working with beautiful florentine paper, thread, leather and parchment. I learnt so much from *** and I absolutely loved her Studio! She (seemingly) knows everything about bookbinding and retauration and didn’t hesitate about sharing her knowledge. We (her and us two “students”) shared wonderful moments and talked and laughed a lot whilst binding our books. *** was also very kind and always available (even before I was attending the course) when there were any problems or question from my part. I absolutely recommend a course with studiainitalia, it was an experience I won’t forget. And rest assured that I’ll be back!

I would like to thank both the course organisers, *** and ***, and my teacher *** for a wonderful and enlightening experience. I absolutely loved the course and would have loved to stay longer and learn more. *** was really professional, dedicated and patient. He made me learn a lot about shoes in two weeks. My only suggestion is to have a more concentrated module for short courses as its not possible to properly learn the whole process in a short period of time, especially given that we’re leaning from artisans who already have a job to attend to at the same time. One possibility would be to send teaching material prior to the start of the course. If you’re looking for a hands-on shoemaking experience, I would highly recommend it.

Mi estancia durante el mes de agosto en Roma solo puede ser calificada de una forma: INOLVIDABLE. El curso intensivo que hice fue extraordinario, aprendiendo mucho y, lo mejor de todo, casi sin darme cuenta. Las únicas críticas que puedo hacer al respecto son que la metodología no aprovecha todos los materiales y sistemas de los que dispone el centro (por ejemplo, teniendo conexión a Internet, apenas se trabajan con materiales audiovisuales -fragmentos de películas, canciones, videoclips, etc.-) y que no existe una verdadera diferenciación entre la enseñanza de la gramática y la expresión oral, algo que considero necesario teniendo en cuenta las diferencias fonéticas entre el italiano y el castellano. Por el contrario, un aspecto más que positivo son las continuas actividades que organizan y que permiten una mayor aproximación a la vida, cultura e historia nacional.En lo referente al alojamiento, si bien estuve muy cómoda por la ubicación, la limpieza y el estado del apartamento, no me pareció correcto que no se me comunicara o, mejor dicho, se me preguntara si, durante un mes, quería compartir baño con una pareja. Asimismo, no se cumplió con las premisas de convivir con personas de la misma o similar edad ni de igual sexo. Creo que son detalles de los que los encargados de este aspecto deben informar con antelación porque existen múltiples factores (sociales, culturales) que pueden suponer una incomodidad para uno o varios de los habitantes. En cualquier caso, esta situación supera a las gestiones efectuadas por StudiaInItalia y a quienes solo puedo evaluar positivamente.Desde el primer momento, resolvieron todas las dudas muy rápido (casi en tiempo real), cumpliendo con su compromiso de ofrecer un servicio cercano y personalizado. Además, durante la estancia se preocuparon por conocer mi estado y si tenía algún tipo de problema. Una preocupación que siempre se agradece, máxime estando en otro país de cuya lengua no tienes un control absoluto. Sin duda, si puedo repetir experiencia, volveré a contactar con *** porque son unas trabajadoras de 10***

Hola ***,El curso sobre Arte que hice la semana del 7 de Septiembre ha sido fantástico tanto por su contenido como por ***, que fue quién lo dió. El alojamiento en la residencia situada en la Isla de la Giudecca estuvo bien y lo mejor la vista de Venecia desde la misma. La escuela ofrece un sistema de educación completo y adaptado al nivel de cada uno. La manera de dirigirse a los alumnos y enseñarlos es verdaderamente ligera y divertida.Es de admirar como cada uno de los profesores, teniendo estilos tan distintos de dictar clases, logra desarrollar ganas y empeño en todos los estudiantes.Además de lo agradable del espacio, la gente y la paciencia que muestran tener, la atención en general de todo el personal es genial: siempre esta disponible para resolver dudas y hacer sentir como en casa.Las actividades de cocina y paseos guiados, hacen crecer el amor por la ciudad y por las personas que te acompañan en el camino.Me ha hospedado una familia increible, bastante agradable el espacio y lo servicial que se mostraron.También el servicio de studiainitalia ha sido de gran ayuda, siempre atentos.100% recomendada, lo mejor que pude hacer.

The course was interesting and *** my instructor was very knowledgeable. It was a good length (2weeks) and I came out of it with a cool restored painting. The only thing that I was not particularly happy about was that I had been told that my instructor could speak some English, when she didn’t speak any at all. So communication was a big issue.

Ha estado todo muy bien, me ha gustado mucho la experiencia. Las profesoras súper simpáticas y he aprendido lo básico de la lengua ya que no sabía nada. Una cosa que añadiría es que aunque no sepas de la lengua tendrian que hacer igualmente prueba de acceso porque al ser española muchas cosas que hacíamos en clase ya las sabía.Por otra parte la familia muy amables pero no he hablado casi italiano con ellos, me esperaba hablar más.Pero en general una gran experiencia que si puedo repetiré.Un saludo, ***

Dear ***, I had my last Italian lesson today. I am very happy indeed with everything about the school. The location is excellent in one of the prettiest and quietist so squares. The secretary, *** was outstandingly helpful in all practical matters. My teacher *** was exceptional. She was highly engaging, skilled and experienced. All the class greatly enjoyed her teaching and said on many occasions how much they appreciated her. I have a lifetime’s experience in the UK education system, including work as as Ofsted inspector and would find it hard to suggest any area for improvement. I am sure the school know how lucky they are to have her but please could you make sure this email reaches the management of the school.
