  • Reviews are published exactly as the customer wrote them: we do not edit them. When a review is challenged, a member of our team reviews it under our moderation policy; we do not remove reviews merely for being negative.

I would like to thank both the course organisers, *** and ***, and my teacher *** for a wonderful and enlightening experience. I absolutely loved the course and would have loved to stay longer and learn more. *** was really professional, dedicated and patient. He made me learn a lot about shoes in two weeks. My only suggestion is to have a more concentrated module for short courses as its not possible to properly learn the whole process in a short period of time, especially given that we’re leaning from artisans who already have a job to attend to at the same time. One possibility would be to send teaching material prior to the start of the course. If you’re looking for a hands-on shoemaking experience, I would highly recommend it.

The course was interesting and *** my instructor was very knowledgeable. It was a good length (2weeks) and I came out of it with a cool restored painting. The only thing that I was not particularly happy about was that I had been told that my instructor could speak some English, when she didn’t speak any at all. So communication was a big issue.

Dear ***, I had my last Italian lesson today. I am very happy indeed with everything about the school. The location is excellent in one of the prettiest and quietist so squares. The secretary, *** was outstandingly helpful in all practical matters. My teacher *** was exceptional. She was highly engaging, skilled and experienced. All the class greatly enjoyed her teaching and said on many occasions how much they appreciated her. I have a lifetime’s experience in the UK education system, including work as as Ofsted inspector and would find it hard to suggest any area for improvement. I am sure the school know how lucky they are to have her but please could you make sure this email reaches the management of the school.

Bologna was just a dream this summer. I had the time of my life. The way the classes and accommodation worked was fantastic. The city is magical, it feels like you go back in time and the cultural experience it offers is without comparison. The classes and teachers were well structured and competent and the level was also manageable for a beginner like me. You can always change it if it doesn’t work for you. I have to say that I would definitely repeat with Studiainitalia for future trips.

It was my pleasure to take the painting course with my instructor *** via Studia in Italia. In only four days i was able to finish an oil painting, knowing that i had a previous experience in drawing but this was my first experience in drawing with oil. *** was very helpful and i learned a lot from her. And of course i must admit that Florence for me is a magical artistic city, and i fell in love with it

I absolutely loved my leather making course. The extreme luxury of being one student of one teachers full attention is priceless, and you learn very much in short time. I did 4 weeks of 24 hours and we made one bag a week. The level of the bags varied and we did simple ones and more difficult ones the more I learned, there was little limitation! You work together with the teacher/artisan on your own design. *** was amazing, very pedagogic and teaching a design/production process aswell as secrets of her long experience. I would recommend everyone who wants to learn the craft to use this method of learning!

I have just completed a one week course in Taormina and can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants to take their Italian language skills to the next level. The school encourages only Italian to be spoken and if you discipline yourself to that requirement you will progress more than you can imagine! My tips are: don’t be shy, join in the extra activities and avoid anyone who keeps on speaking English. The school has an onsite restaurant/cafe of the highest standard which is a real bonus. Only regret is that I didn’t go for longer – very, very good value in my opinion.

I have done the two weeks bookbinding. With ***. I loved every minute. I learnt a lot and was able to start at the appropriate level of experience. I did not speak Italian but it did not matter at all. It is a practical course and *** can speak English well. I had time to make 3 books of differing types. The materials were part of the tuition fee so there were no extra costs. I travelled from Australia specially for the course and had not travelled much on my own before. I had no problems finding my way around. I enjoyed shopping at the markets and cooking. It was a wonderful cultural experience. I can only recommend to anyone that they do it. My teacher was warm, friendly and very supportive. She made the whole experience amazing. Studiainitalia are very helpful. They will answer any questions you have promptly. There are extra activities if you want to do them in weekends and after school finishes for the day. I great time in Florence. It’s a beautiful city.

I had the best two weeks completing my Italian language course. It enjoyed it so much that I enrolled for an extra two weeks of the course. The staff there were all so friendly and helpful. It was a shock to me when I realised it was all taught in Italian, but this was a great way to speed up the learning process. Being fully immersed in the language and culture has helped me significantly. I made great friendships with my fellow students and enjoyed doing other activities out of school with them. To want to go to school each morning and learn was a fantastic feeling. I’m really pleased with my progress that I have made in learning this language. Thank you for helping organise this for me, it has been one of the greatest experience of my life.

Ciao, I had an amazing time in Florence! What an enchanting city! The only problem is I didn’t have nearly enough time to see everything, so the only solution will be to visit many more times. The staff at school were friendly and welcoming, the other students were lovely and the location was perfect! The leather course was awesome. *** was a fantastic teacher, but also she is a very wonderful person. I made some beautiful leather things and her system of design and construction was perfect for a complete beginner. She is able to break everything down into easy steps and I hope to continue this activity at home with all the skills she gave me. The location of her shop was very convenient. I really appreciate the help in organising everything! Grazie mille,

I found the course definitely useful, *** is a good teacher and very nice guy. In spite of my poor Italian he managed to make me understand everything. The only thing that not that positive is the limited time, there is a lot to learn, I think in any of these courses. But it was a good introduction for furniture restoration for sure. The accommodation was good, landlady was nice, too. Thank you for everything

Both courses were really good but I especially loved the restoration course with the one on one teaching/learning with an expert restorer. We used the two weeks to restore a book from 1888 and ***, the teacher, was very generous in her guidance, the documentation she provided, and in showing me and letting me try different techniques along side her as we restored the book. I enjoyed the Italian language course also but found the semi intensive may have been better if I had done it as an intensive course but there really wasn’t the time. I have no regrets though as I enjoyed *** the teacher and the class but didnt find my Italian improved that much. Probably too much of an overload and not a huge amount of time for study after the lesson because the restoration course was very intensive. The accommodation was just a few minutes away from the language school. The Santo Spirito area is charming and a great base for Florence. A bit noisy though with roadworks going on from early morning and quite a bit of noise at night but ear plugs did the trick (at night) but this is how the reality is it is in this area. I had some very interesting conversations with my hosts *** and *** and gained some insight into what it is like for the locals to live in Florence and within the broader context of Italian politics and culture, as musicians and writers. You could never grasp this from an experience in a hotel. I am already thinking that Id like to do some further restoration either on frescoes or more on paper. But Im not even home yet!

I really enjoyed everything very much. *** was a great host and she really went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable. As for shoemaking, I had an absolutely wonderful time with ***, *** and *** – they really took me in and made my entire trip. *** took me around to his favorite restaurants, *** cooked for me and *** provided the entertainment making me laugh 24/7. I really feel like I made some really great friends. Oh yes, and I did learn to make sandals! It was a great experience and very much my style. The only thing I could say that someone may not like is that if they are looking for a shoe course that is very structured, organized and step by step instructional, then this is not the right course for them. It is very hands on and you just learn as you go – this is probably why I liked it so much as I prefer more hands on. Also, I think that *** really is just such a great person that if is hard not to enjoy the time you spend in the shop.If you have any questions or want to know more, let me know. Thanks for coordinating everything for me. I’m planning on visiting again and would like to take a couple of cooking classes while I’m there.
