The sword arrived on time, a very good Katana for the price.
I was expecting a sword stand as a free gift as stated but takes nothing away from the sword itself.

Great service and great product

It is an amazing sword and the fact it's handcrafted really makes me proud to show it off as a decorative item. It's very sharp and the intricate design makes it worth the money. Massive respect to the people who made this :)

Nice, well balanced sword. Noticed the brushed hammon is a bit thin but this doesn't really bother me as it's use Kendo/kenjutsu and Iaido use.

Wax getting on the blade everytime it comes out of the saya is a bit annoying as it leaves wax all over the floor of my practice area.

The sageo tie off point on the Saya also has had one of the small gold pieces break off (out of the package, before I took the sageo off). Had a little chalk or paint around this area which i cleaned off.

Apart from the issues i've mentioned it's a practical and usable sword for anyone needing an Iai for martial arts.

Delivery was quick with good tracking information. Good packaging & a simple free kake, easily put together (may make a larger one myself). Good customer service from the interaction I have had, very informative as well.

3 stars only due to the damage to the saya, otherwise it's 5 stars alround. Thus 4 stars seems apt.

I purchased this sword in the hope it would be suitable for my requirements, which was to have a live blade for both Iai Kata and tamishi giri practice, I also wanted a substantially heavier blade to test and improve my technique. I was fully prepared for the quality not to meet my expectations, and therefore I would then assign it as a dojo cutter for tamishi giri practice.

However, when it arrived I was very surprised with how good the blade was, the weight was just what I was looking for and the balance was very good as well, the blade length was comparable with my existing Iaito, so not much adjustment was required for drawing and re-sheathing. technique.

I have had the sword for three days and have managed two training session and I am looking forward to tomorow for a third session, the weight is certainly testing my stamina and is requiring much work to maintain the quality of my technique.

Absolutely stunning beautifully balanced sword, way beyond what I had expected.

The handmade Knishi Tanto is a magnificent weapon, it is substantial, fits perfectly into the wooded sayu and well balanced. This tanto is a beautiful work of art and the craftsmanship is second to none. If you are thinking to buy a Tanto for the first time, this is a really good buy. It will look great on a stand alone or with other swords if you want to display it. I will be buying more swords from Katanamart in the future.

I’m very happy with this Shirasaya. It looks great and the wood has a really nice finish to it.

Arrived quick feels very nice and blade come oiled and perfect in a box, cleaning kit with little hammer, spare bamboo pegs would buy again. Also tryed the cutting on abit of paper sliced like butter thanks so much.

This kit perfectly serves its purpose. Having already used it once for the initial clean-up of the sword after purchase, I can't complain about it – it simply does what it says on the tin. Thanks.

Delighted with the quality of the Katana

I am very pleased with this product. Considering the price, heaviness and materials used, it is a very good display katana. Perhaps, at some point in time once I get a proper training, I may even use it for Battōjutsu.

i have just receive my Dotanuki shinken from Katanamart and i need to say from delivery to packaging to customer service to product itself, it is 5* job.
Package- item arrived very quickly all the time track able on on the website, it was packaged very safely and securely.
Dotanuki shinken - job is amazing the hamon line is gorgeous and nicely visible, the sharpness of the sword is great and the balance is spot on. there is still some residue left after production and oil left in the saya to protect blade and the saya itself. this will need cleaning before first use. but the shinken is just very well made.
this is my second sword for this guys and its getting better and better. first one was good but this is definitely superior sword.

All I can say about the Matsukura Iaito Katana is wow what a fantastic sword. The photos didn't do it justice as it is stunning and the quality is as you would expect for a Japanese made sword - excellent. I have used it a few times for practive now and it is perfectly balanced and although slightly heavier than my old sword it is easier to handle and much better. The leather samegawa is also a welcome detail and is very comfortable to grip. Excellent service from Katana mart too, they answered all of my questions via what's app very quickly the same day and my sword arrived the day they said it would and perfectly packaged too. Other Sensei's from my club including my head coach have also commented how nice and balanced the sword is. If you are considering buying a Matsukura go for it you won't be disappointed!

I'm a beginner in Iaido but here are my thoughts regarding this sword:

It's really tip heavy so it's exhausting to use, but I guess that can be a good thing too. The sori is quite big (which was one of the reasons why I wanted this sword), difficult to get used to at first. The tsuka is quite nice, it's decently wrapped. One thing I noted regarding the tsuka is that it might be slightly too short, at least that's how it felt, but then again I'm new so I can't say for sure.

The reason I didn't rate this five out of five was because of the saya. It's way too tight, it's not possible to properly draw the sword (which makes Iaido impossible). You have to force the sword in, and also force it out of the saya. This is a thing to watch out for in the future I think. This is my only complaint.

Note: the only other sword I own is a Ronin Dojo Pro, so that's what I based my thoughts on.

For £80 this sword is fantastic. Very well made & much better quality than other more expensive swords I own. This is my second from katanamart & just can't fault.

Really well made with a nice black finish looks really good

I needed a new Katana for Jujitsu training and had my eye on the Matsukura for a while. I ordered it after doing some Internet research and received it within only 3 days. Extremely well packed too and the cloth slip bagslip bag is also a nice touch. Wow all I can say is that the Matsukura exceeded my expectations and looks even better in real life than in the photos. The sword is well balanced, a nice a snug fit into the saya, no loose or poor fitted component's. The blade was blunt as expected for an Iaito for safety which is great for my needs. The leather wrapped Tsuka is also a nice change from the usual cotton wrap and is a very high quality leather. Overall a fantastic sword and well worth the money. If you are in the market for a new Katana give katanamart a try, excellent service too as they usually answer what's app messages the same day. Overall I am very pleased with the Matsukura and with the whole Katanamart experience.
