I am the Sensei/teacher of the student who purchased this sword!

At first when my student came to me with your website details - to be honest I was very sceptical (notice the word `Was`).

I scrutinized everything, from the metal used (1060 HCS High Carbon Steel) when using a Iaito you must take into consideration that cutting or Tameshigiri is out of the question. the Iaito is blunt and used solely for Kata.

There are a few provisos when choosing a Iaito

the Tsuka (Sword handle) and the TsukaMaki (the sword handle Wrapping) must be tight.

*** It is*** there is no movement rattle or shake in the handle of the sword.

`Excellent`

the Fuchiri,Sepa and Tsuba must all be solid and there must be no movement what so ever.

*** There isnt ***

`Outstanding`

This is an immense sword and superb example of the Iaito.

Q. `should you buy this if this is your first training sword/iaito`
A. `Definitely`
Q. `Should you get this sword if you practice Iaito at any level`
A. `In my humble opinion - Yes, without a doubt`

I have been using this for a while now
The Tsuka Ito is tightly wrapped and has not come loose even after heavy use
Silver plated brass Habake,Seppa,Shitodome
Black iron Tsuba,Fuchi,Kashira and black Samegawa really makes the purple Tsuka Ito stand out and looks great with the purple Sageo and black laquered Saya
This Iaito is slightly heavier than a few Shinken (live blade sword) i have used and the design of the Tsuba gives it a more unique look
A great Iaito for its price
Much better than most (if not all) composite metal Iaito's i have used in the past
Would recommend it as a starter Iaito

Very well made. although it was not made specifically for my katana it is a great fit and the quality is wonderful. i would have no worries about using it on a cheap sword or a very fine collectable.

The Hisamatsu set is my first purchase from katana mart. they are well made the finish is quite good in fact excellent for sword in this price range. quality is very very good, performance has yet to be determined but with a preliminary cut or two through tatami mats has been good so far, my only detractor and that would be very slight is the sword could be sharper. The service and advice is first rate and without complications, Advice given is accurate and what appears to be knowledgeable. I Would have no complaints or bothers with Katana Mart. Notification of shipping was quick and traceable with little difficulty. I will use Katana mart for a great deal more transactions.

Great swords delivered swiftly what more can you ask for

A nice sword, a perfect size for Togakure Ryu kata. I'm glad that the Tsuka doesn't follow the ninja norm, by adding a silly length of 12` or more, this Tsuka is a perfect 10`. The blade is ideal for a Shinobi sword, 21`, Semi sharp. My only quibble is the wire brushed Hamon. If it's not a real Hamon, just leave it plain steel.
