I am really happy that I found this test to keep in my medical supply kit. It is a test that detects blood in the stool which can indicate problems in the GI tract. It contains one test kit, several sets of instructions, paper that goes on the toilet for collection, test and buffer solution duo. The instructions are very clear and there are 3 separate pamphlets detailing this, although one of which is the paper for sample collection purposes. The sample collection process actually seems relatively simple using the enclosed paper. A few people in my household are older and it makes me feel better knowing I have this test to make sure everything is in working order. This is an immunochemical based test so it uses an antibody labeled for hemoglobin detection. If there's blood in the stool sample, the antibody will react with it and it will give a "positive" response. The testing procedure is pretty standard as far as home tests go (other than the sample collection part), collect the sample, process according to the instructions and then test accordingly. If positive, the result may show up in a few minutes, but otherwise the packaging recommends reading at around 10 minutes. For the best accuracy, I try to follow the instructions as literally as possible. This test states that it is 98.8% accurate and there are no preparatory steps or measures required. There shouldn't be blood in the stool under normal circumstances so, if positive, it's probably time to see the Doctor and share the results, whenever I do a home test and I get a positive, I always take a picture so I can show mine.
